Rough start up and chirping sound with 1999 Infiniti QX4?

I just got the car and it seemed to run great. Today it started having an issue on startup and began making some noise.

When it starts, the idle speed drops pretty low then slowly works it's way back up to 900 RPM and stays there just fine. No check engine light or anything.

At lower RPMs there is a loud noise that sounds like chirping or metal-on-metal squeaking below the car. I held against the catalytic converter since that's where the sound seemed to be, and it calmed down quite a bit. Does this mean it likely needs to be replaced or could there just be something a little loose?

Could the two problems be related?

Belts that are worn sounds like birds in the engine.

Something needs to replaced! Take it to the local service center and have the work done by a trained mechanic.
