why does my 2007 mazda cx-7 not accelerate when i press the gas pedal?

i have to press down on the gas pedal for awhile for the car to start moving and it won't go past 40mph.

coz it's a mazda....box of snot, u need to get under the bonnet and wind up the rubber bands if you want it to have "lift off speed"
