why does the check engine light blink on my 1999 mercury tracer?

my mercury tracer is running rough and the check engine light has started blinking. the spark plugs look ok. changed the coil pack and plug wires 2 years ago.

The dealer of the car are the only people who cam pin-point the *exact cause of the flashing check engine light which could cause engine damage if you continue to drive the car.

The non-mechanics at Auto Zone do not have the equipment to pin-point the exact cause of the flashing check engine light.
